Nanda Devi Festival
Nanda Devi Festival is probably the oldest celebrated festival in Almora started by the Chanda Dynasty from 17th Century onwards. It is celebrated to offer prayers to the family goddess, Goddess Nanda, at the Temple of Nanda Devi. The festival is celebrated for five continuous days in the month of September with great zeal and vigour attracting a lot of tourists.
Celebrated annually in the month of January, Uttraini Festival is the biggest Trade festival of Almora bringing all the traders on one platform. This fair is very similar to the Trade Fair held in the national capital of Delhi.
Jageshwar Monsoon Festival
Jageshwar Monsoon Temple is a month long festival celebrated from 15th of July till 15th of August at the Temple of Lord Jagnath. The temple was constructed between the 8th-9th centuries. The one month long festival is celebrated with great zeal with many live folk dances, musical concerts and much more.
