About Along

Whenever you are visiting Arunachal Pradesh, Along is the place to be. Along, which is situated near Assam’s border is very scenic and picturesque as it is surrounded by mountains with rivers flowing rapidly through them.


How to Reach

By Air
The nearest airport is Lilabari in Assam. It is 240 kilometers away. Taxis are available for further journey.

By Rail
Nearest railhead is Silapathar, 146 kilometers away. Taxis are available for reasonable cost.

By Road
Along is on the national network and no problem reaching there.

Best Time to Visit

The best months to visit Arunachal Pradesh are from October to April. In the rainy season many times the roads get washed away, and this is the sole reason it is not recommended. Because of the high altitude, winters can get harsh and heavy woolens are a must.

Yomgo Tourist Festival
This festival promotes the tourism through the culture and tradition of Along, and the famous handloom and handicraft work. It is held during January 11-15 every year.
Mopin Festival
Celebrated at the Darka Village to drive away the bad omen and pray for next cultivation session, Mopin festival is a good watch for indigenous cultural show. It is held during the month of April and is a 5 day long festival.
Solung
Adis are the aboriginal tribe of Along in Arunachal Pradesh and every year during first week of September to celebrate the new harvest. It is celebrated for more than 5 days with rituals, Ponung songs and dances.
