About Aru

The Aru valley in Kashmir is a must visit for those who love adventure or nature or both! It offers an abundance of both. The Aru valley is a small picturesque village located 12 km from Pahalgam. There are about 20 glacial lakes, peaks, meadows and epic forestsaround the valley. It is considered a premier trekking destination in Kashmir and the Aru valley is also known to be a superb site for campingto enjoy serene moments among nature. Its location and breathtaking beauty make it a tourist’s delight. The gorgeous Aru valley has a cool and pleasing climate in summers and extremely cold climate in winters. The best time to visit the valley is from March to November. Those who have gone there say a pony ride along the mountain side is a must for everyone who goes there. Some of the other popular tourist activities besides trekking, hiking, and horse riding include fishing trout in the Lidder River and photography.

Nearest railhead is Udhampur, 117 kilometers away or Jammu, 157 kilometers away.
By Road
The road network is well connected with Srinagar, Anantnag and Jammu. You can opt for state run buses, private luxury buses or taxis.
