The famous ski resort at Auli lies in Chamoli District and attracts hundreds of skiing enthusiasts every year. The ski slopes extend up to 7 km and the altitude varies from 2,896m to 3,200m on the edge of Nanda Devi National Park amidst the spectacular views of the Himalayan peaks.
Auli boasts of two lifts to bring skiers back to the starting point. The first is the ski lift which climbs back to the top by 500 meters and the other is the chair lift climbing around 800 meters. It saves your time and removes the trouble of walking up with long skis. There is also an Annual Skiing Festival, which is conducted here, that enthusiasts would love to join.
Auli, no doubt is an ideal ski slope for professional skiers, but also offers adventure sports lovers to learn ski. The Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) every year offers 7-days non-certificate and 14-day certificate courses for beginners with modern ski equipments in the months of January to March. There are also some private instructors in case you miss the course.
