Best Time to Visit Chaukori
Summers are best to visit Chaukori, from April to June when weather is the most pleasant and ideal for all outdoor activities. It literally pours here in the monsoons and visiting any nearby place is difficult. Honeymooners often visit here, who like to smell the mist, low clouds and make it a point to arrive well before the season starts.
Winters are chilly and temperature falls around 2 degrees. With warm clothes in your luggage, visiting Chaukori is not a major problem. Winters in Chaukori sees maximum footfall because the skies are clearer then, and the views are majestic. Tourists say that all Chaukori is a year round destination for many.
How to Reach
Naini Saini airport at Pithoragarh, 114 km is the nearest. Other airport is at Pantnagar, 260 km away. (Please enquire whether flights are operational). Private taxis and cabs are available for Chaukori and other destinations. The roads are well maintained and reaching destinations is a breezy affair.
Nearest railhead Kathgodam – 214 km. State transport buses & taxis are available for Chaukori and other nearby destinations. The road quality is excellent and the metalled roads offer great travelling experience throughout the state.
Chaukori is 480 km from Delhi and 183 km from Nainital. In our opinion, it would be best to drive down from Delhi itself. One other approach is to reach Chaukori through Almora. Delhi to Almora takes about 12 hours by bus and for climbing the steep hills jeeps are always available.
