Dalhousie is better explored from the months of March-June. The snow, if any, has melted and its brilliance can be seen when the rays of sun hit the higher reaches of snow-capped mountains and pastures. The weather is very pleasant now, and you can experience the chills in March and April and the temperature begins to rise from the month of June. Rainfalls often disturb the strolling paths and few couples can be seen walking together. Winters are also not on the harsher side and it snows only sparingly. All in all a peaceful hill station which is not on any special travel circuit of tour operators.
The temperature in summers from March till June always remains below 30 degrees. Overall summers are very pleasant and the tourists arrive in great numbers but this hill station is not on regular travel routes and hence finding decent accommodation is never a problem here. Light cottons are just what the doctor ordered and should do the work comfortably.
From July to September the monsoon season lasts. Dalhousie does not receive a high amount of rain in the monsoon. The average rainfall here is 180 mm and the temperature dances between 20 and 30 degrees. When any occasional rainfall is heavy, landslides occur and block all access roads. Tourists planning to visit Dalhousie in the rainy season should keep a couple of days handy in allowing the roads to be cleared. The weather is very humid taking the heat a few notches upwards. Again, light cottons, albeit in full sleeves are recommended for this period.
The winters in Dalhousie settle down around October, although, it begins to snow only in the month of December. The temperature in winters ranges from 1 to 10 degrees Celsius.
