Boating in Jammu

Mansar lake, with its more than a mile length and more than half-a-mile width, is a very attractive lake in the midst of lusting greeneries surrounded by forest-covered hills. It is considered as a very holy site known for a temple for Snake God, SheshNag from mythological periods sharing the sanctity and legacy of Mansa Sarovar. It is a very popular base of tourists. It is believed that it is auspicious for newlywed couples to seek blessings of Sheshnag by performing three parikarma around the lake.

It is just over an hour drive from Jammu, around 65 kms away. You have all sorts of boats including inflated boats, paddle boats and big boats for the family. The charges for paddle boats are quite reasonable, Rs 200 for an hour.

The hilly areas, the presence of holy temples, the greenery make the place a serene and beautiful. When tourists are in Jammu for any reason, missing out boating in Mansar Lake would be a foolish mistake.
