Kufri is a hill station in the state of Himachal Pradesh, located on National High Way 22 approximately 12 km away from the state capital of Shimla. Kufri has a rich wildlife that includes rare felines, birds and antelopes protected by the Himalayan Wildlife Zoo. The British were the first to turn their attention to this otherwise relatively uncharted territory in 1819, after obtaining it from the Kingdom of Nepal. A relatively small hill station as compared to other popular ones in the state, Kufri derives its name from the word Kufr, which means lake. The best time to visit Kufri in the summer is the window between April and June, and the winter time span best suited for touristic exploration is between December and February.

Kufri is easily accessible by road as buses from Shimla, Narkanda, Rampur are readily available.

Kufri is known for its snowfall and hence the best time to visit is from November to March. This is the time when the snowfall is at its peak. Kufri’s altitude is more than the nearby city Shimla and hence it gets snowfall much earlier.
April to June is summer time in Kufri and the temperature oscillates between 12 to 19 degrees, much cooler than nearby destinations. Despite these temperatures summers are pleasing and refreshing too. You can no doubt enjoy the tourist activities.
