Kurseong is a small hill station (a sub-divisional town) situated in West Bengal. It is just 30 kms from Darjeeling and located at an altitude of 1458 m. The native name of Kurseong is "Kharsang", which in the Lepcha language means ‘Land of White Orchids’. Kurseong is nearly 47 kms from Siliguri and is well-connected to the city by road and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. The best times to visit Kurseong are between March and May and between August and October. It has a pleasant climate all through the year. Kurseong offers amazing sightseeing options. Tourists can enjoy the tea plantations, plush green forests,and meandering rivers. Besides enjoying the nature, you can also visit various religious places such asJagdish Mandir, Ambotia Shiva Temple, and Gidhapahar Durga Mata Mandir, etc. You can also take a toy ride and enjoy the surroundings.Another fascinating site in Kurseong is the Dow Hill,which is time and again reported to be a centre of paranormal activities and is believed to be haunted. Kurseong is on the Toy Train route from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling.

Except from June to August, Kurseong can be visited any time of the year. However, if you enjoy rains, there should be no stopping in the monsoons too. Rains in hills is a different experience altogether.
