About Landour

Landour is one of the small cantonment town in Dehradun contigious with Mussoorie is about 35kms from Dehradun in the Northern State of Uttarakhand.Landour is a beautiful small Hill Station in Uttarakhand just 2 kms from Mussoorie offres natural beauty of Himlalayan Peaks and snow Cap mountains in Uttarakhand India.Landour is for the most part (unlike largely deforested Mussoorie) carpeted by old-growth forests of Deodar Cedar, Himalayan Oak, Chir Pine, Blue Pine, West Himalayan Fir, Himalayan Maple, Rhododendron, Himalayan Manna Ash and other tree species.

Best Time to Visit

Landour is situated about 1,500 feet above Mussoorie and has the altitude of 7,000 feet. The summers are quite comfortable in daytime but the nights are slightly cold. In the monsoons the day temperature dips a bit and nights much are chillier. And as far as winters are concerned, the days are cold and nights are almost freezing. Snowfall is what everyone awaits here for and enjoy to their fullest.

Summers

April to June mark the summer months in Landour. The day temperature rises around 30 degrees but the nights are quite cold around 10. There are local cobblers’ outlets where famous personalities flock to order custom-made leather shoes and sandals with fabulous designs. Don’t be surprised if you hear that cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar also visit this market for premium quality shoes when he is in the town. Not only shoes, you can also shop for snuggly woollens, exquisite antiques and delicate ceramic crockery at Landour Bazaar. If you want a quick bite in between your shopping spree, there are several eateries where you can enjoy snacks and coffee/tea. Some other attractions of Landour Bazaar are Mullingar Estate (abode of Captain Young who is known to discover Mussoorie), Woodstock School, Char Dukan (a cluster of local shops) and St Paul's Church.
