About Lohaghat

Lohaghat is a town situated in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, on the bank of the River Lohawati, and a fast becoming popular tourist destination on account of the numerous temples found within the 5 km expanse of the town, which is set at an altitude of 1706 m, amidst thick pine and oak forests. The history of the town in terms of folk lore can be traced back a long time, so much so that it is believed to be a site where Lord Shiva killed Banasur.
