Places to Visit in Nubra Valley Jammu and Kashmir

  • Panamik is a village situated just right at the border of India-Tibet. It is famous for its hot spring of water which is believed to have curative properties due sulphur and many other chemicals present in it. Tourists can trek from this village down to river bridge, Hargam which is about 5 mile.
  • Samstemling Gompa was inaugurated by Dalai Lama in 1962 and is located between the Kyagar and Sumur Village, 1 km uphill of the Sumur Village.the Gompa is famous for the collection of Buddhist artefacts, some of which are rarely found.
  • Diskit Village is the administrative centre of Nubra Valley consisting of several government offices within it. Located at an altitude of 3,144 meters, Diskit Village is also famous for its 350 year old monastery which houses the Maitrey Buddha Statue, paintings and many more Tibetan cultural artefacts. The monastery is home to more than 100 monks from across the world.
  • A 250 year old monastery, Ensa Gompa is located near Panamik Village. The route to reach Ensa Gompa is good for trekking starting from the Panamik Village. The Gompa is situated on the hill covered with snow throughout the year making the backdrop even more beautiful.
