About Panchgani

Panchgani, one of the fabulous hill stations of India derive its name from ‘Panch’ hills, comfortably located at an elevation of 1334 metres. It is the quiet, beautifully chiseled residential hill station with old world architecture, clearly visible in British buildings and Parsi houses. The hills around Panchgani offer spectacular view of River Krishna. The best time to visit this hill station is from September through May. The winter temperatures on average are around 16 Degrees, whereas the summers are quite hot, with temperatures soaring to 35 Degrees.Bicycles and horseback are the recommended for uphill and downhill transportation.


How to Reach

By Air

Nearest airport is Pune, 100 kilometers away. Regular taxis and buses are available for onward journey.

By Train

Nearest railhead is Wathar, but it is not well connected. Pune is again the best bet.

By Road

Direct buses are available from Pune/Mumbai to Panchagani.

Best Time to Visit

Locals recommend the months of September to May but it is all year round destination. Even the rainy season has its own merits, especially the Kaas Plateau, where the flowers just begin to bloom. Then it is a photographer’s delight!

Diwali – The festival is celebrated all across India. It symbolizes victory, and on this occasion denizens dress themselves up in their favorite clothes and lit their homes with candles and artificial lights.
