About Pauri Garhwal

Pauri Garhwal, also known as Pauri is a district of Uttarakhand. It is surrounded by the districts of Dehradun and Haridwar in the West, Almora and Nainital in the East, Bijnor and Udhamsingh Nagar in the South, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Tehri Garhwal in the North. Pauri offersa panoramic view of the great Himalayas. The district is administratively divided into nine tehsils namely,Lansdowne, Pauri, Thalisain, Chaubatakhal, Kotdwar, Dhumakot, Yamkeshwar, Srinagar,andSatpuli. Pauri offers a breathtaking view of snow laden Himalayan splendor, scenic valleys, dense forests, meandering rivers, and a rich culture. This assorted in topography district varies from the foothills of the Bhabar areas of Kotdwar to the meadows of Dhudatoli. The region has a sub-temperate to temperate climate, which remains pleasant all through the year. The climate of Pauri is very cold in winters and the region experiences low to moderate snowfall in the months of January-February. The climate is pleasant in the summers. In the rainy season the climate is very cool and lush greenery engulfs the town.

By Rail

Kotdwara is the nearest railhead, just 52 kilometers away! Taxis are available for onward journey.

By Road

Pauri is well connected with major cities. From Rishikesh it takes around 3-4 hours to reach Pauri.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Pauri is from March to November. This is to avoid freezing cold temperatures. Those who can withstand cold can definitely benefit from lowly hotel prices.
