About Monastery Venuvana Vihara

The Monastery Venuvana Vihara is constructed on the bamboo groves, ‘Venuvana’, that were a gift from the King Bimbisara to Lord Buddha. On knowing that Lord Buddha was arriving at Rajgir, the king planned to meet him at Sapling grove where he was received the teachings of Buddhism and attained the first stage of Sainthood. Later, the king gifted him with Bamboo Grooves, which later on became a monastery with many cleaning and construction work.
