About Ranikhet

Ranikhet is a magnificent Hill Station, situated in Almora district of Uttarakhand, with elevation of 1869 meters or 6132 feet above sea level. Being once in the Ranikhet, you are definitely going to forget all the stress and tension. Gleaning with panoramic view of the cascading range of Himalayas, lush green environs and a serene landscape, Ranikhet presents scenic beauty. The Hill Station retains its old world charm of beautiful churches, sprawling bungalows bordered by flower-decorated gardens. The entire Hill Station sprawls across succession of ridges and attractive, tree lined trails finding their way into neighboring alpine forests area. It is very cold in Ranikhet, and tourists would love to catch the glimpse of snow fall. During the summers, this fabulous hill station enjoys moderate climate.

EVENTS/FESTIVALS

Nanda Devi Mela
It is the exquisite fair of Ranikhet, celebrated with high level of involvement, splendor and elaboration. The key point of celebration is Nanda Devi Temple, and the festival is organized in June. Nanda Devi Mela has a special meaning in lives of married women as they pray, and appease Goddess Nanda and Sunanda Devi to be blessed by a child. The women hold oil lit lamps in their hands all through the night. Other local festivals celebrated with grandeur and huge participation from people includes Shayaldeh Mela, and Dwarahat Mela,

SHOPPING AREA

Tourists, who visit Ranikhet, are often excited about shopping, and it is true to wider extent and reasoning for there are articles that can be shopped around and bought on bargain prices. Options in woolen clothing, food items, and typical hill artifacts and handlooms make Ranikhet a heart throb for buyers.


The Mall Road
The principal area, which is always bustling with rush highest number of footfall is The Mall Road. This area of Ranikhet is popular for woolen fabrics, Kurtas, Jackets and Shawls. If embroidery is what fascinates you from the inside and out, obviously, Sadar Bazaar is where you will find it all. The popular shopping hub for all types of hill embroidery makes it favorite destination for tourists. There are small sized shops, where you will come across everything, which has been subtly embroidered adding unique charm to the whole thing.
