Camping in Ranikhet

Ranikhet is already famous for its serene environs and picturesque location. Just 17 km from here is the village Majkhali which holds the Paragliding camp. The camp aims to provide adventure based experience in paragliding through tandem rides and using adventure and nature based activities to give the participants a fully fun filled outdoor experience.

Ranikhet is not so densely populated but the jungle is thick all over. The jungle treks are thrilling and so is the night camping. Though experienced guides accompany the campers, the thrill so experienced is beyond words. When the nights are pitch dark, away from civilization, the experience sends shivers down the spine.

Adventure Activities

  1. Tandem paragliding rides.

  2. Jungle treks & night camping.

  3. Mountain bicycling trail

  4. Kite making & flying

  5. Rock climbing, and

  6. Rappelling

Special Kite Making & Flying workshops

This is indeed something special as qualified instructors teach how to make big kites and fly them. The participants simple love this experience and one completed, want to share them to all their friends. Once their kites soar into the sky, their faces fill with joy and words fail to express their satisfaction.

Mountain Bicycling Trail

Special tracks have been identified and the tourists come down a hill in record time while riding their lightweight bicycles. Though riding bicycles is easy, riding them in mountains is not. It is a totally different world altogether and you realize only when you ride it and complete the challenge.

Tariffs

Available on request (It is much better because Paragliding is possible on favourable weather and sometimes, for a big stretch the weather stays clouded)

How to Reach

The camp site is around 17 km from Ranikhet and reaching here is not at all difficult. Many trains running from all over the country terminate at Kathgodam and reaching Ranikhet is not at all difficult as roads are in good condition.

Notes

  1. All activities are time dependent and need be finished before 6 pm in the evening. If any of your group member takes more time, either ask to quit or you may have to forego other activities. Same tip applies to family members.

  2. Do not take your sweet time and then expect the organizer to accommodate your extra time beyond 6 pm. This is just not possible and the operators, in fact, try closing a few minutes before so to allow latecomers to complete their tasks.

  3. Spend some time in darkness and watch the stars laden sky. One glance and you know what you missed in your city back home. You know the vastness and idea of your entity.

  4. Before sleeping at night, keep quiet inside your tent and try listening to the night world. Hills have a different world of their own which comes alive only at night.

  5. Hills are the best place to try low light photography. Dusk & dawns present ample opportunities no one should miss out.

  6. Try staying at least 2-3 days if possible. For full enjoyment and total relaxation and rejuvenation this is the apt period. Else all your energy will be wasted in arriving & departing only.

  7. Many a time local villagers drop in to meet the visitors. Their children do come along trying to join in and have fun. Often these result in fruitful talks and laughter sessions. It is recommended not to shoo them away for mutual benefit.

  8. Plastic bags are not allowed inside the campus. Please do not litter them outside and try to keep the mountains clean.

  9. Our staff is attentive at all adventure spots and is available for immediate help. You can call if and when necessary.

  10. In case of any serious injury, the organizer can transport you to the nearest hospital.
