Speciality of Kinnaur Camp
Unlike other camps, this one is far from probing eyes, and is tucked away in the Kinnaur Himalayas. It is nestled in the pristine Sangla Valley tucked in a corner of the South Eastern part of Himachal Pradesh State and is surrounded by Tibet on the East, Garhwal to the South, Spiti in the North and Kullu in the West. This valley has bounties of nature abound that would hold the visitor spellbound and leaves a lasting impression.

Kinnaur Camp offers different activities which are lapped up by all who visit here. The facilities are:

For Single Occupancy: Rs 3,500 – 5,000 for 1 night 2 days package
For Double Occupancy:  Rs 6,500 – 8,000 for 1 night 2 days package

Amenities included in every package
Each tent has two cots with comfortable bedding with linen and a table, all meals and all activities.

Jeep Safaris are extra and need be booked in advance.

Notes for Adventure Seekers
1. Trained personnel always man the activity center and available in every situation.
2. All activities are weather dependent and can never continue beyond 6:00 pm. Please do not coerce our staff to proceed past that time.
3. If weather turns inclement, we cannot continue. We also cannot admit any refunds in these cases.
4. Please cooperate with our staff, they are your best friends and guides.

How to Reach
Moving ahead of Shimla, proceed on NH22 and take right towards Karcham. Sangla is just 18 km from Karcham and then the river Baspa would be at your right. Slow down and you will find Sangla as tents will be visible from afar.

Notes for Tourists
1. Rain lovers should opt for tents as even a short burst gives plenty of joy on plastic covers. It is just like sleeping under an umbrella and is a unique experience.
2. Spend some time in darkness and watch the stars laden sky. One glance and you know what you missed in your city back home. You know the vastness and idea of your entity.
3. Before sleeping at night, keep quiet inside your tent and try listening to the night world. Hills have a different world of their own which comes alive only at night.
4. Hills are the best place to try low light photography. Dusk & dawns present ample opportunities no one should miss out.
5. Try staying at least 2-3 days if possible. For full enjoyment and total relaxation and rejuvenation this is the apt period. Else all your energy will be wasted in arriving & departing only.
6. Many a time local villagers drop in to meet the visitors. Their children do come along trying to join in and have fun. Often these result in fruitful talks and laughter sessions. It is recommended not to shoo them away for mutual benefit.
7. Plastic bags are not allowed inside the campus. Please do not litter them outside and try to keep the mountains clean.
8. Do not litter the river. Plastic bags often prove disastrous for fishes and migratory birds.
9. There are no vendors selling anything around so please make sure you bring your own drinks, smoking materials and medicines.
10. Our staff is attentive at all adventure spots and is available for immediate help. You can call if and when necessary.
In case of any serious injury, we can transport you to the nearest hospital.

Kangojodi, Nahan, Sirmour District

Just 30 km from Nahan and you enter a dense Pine forest and the environment changes for the best. The entire 7 km stretch is enough to transport you to a new world which is quite serene and cuts you off from the outside world.


This spot is relatively non-commercial and is bereft of any high-priced amenity. One can indulge in various adventure activities and games with friends and families. Totally surrounded by beautiful shrubs and sturdy trees, this place is literally commands respect and has some magnetic pull which brings people from far distances.


The gushing stream slows down quite a bit and seems eager to engage with the visitors. The towering peaks complete the picture and this overall picture invites you family members to engage in recreational and bonding activities. The mild wind brushes you with the fragrance of Pine and other wild flowers that bloom from time to time.


The shallow stream invites tourists to dip their bare feet while resting on rocks scattered in the pathway. The cold water sends shivers up the spine and once used to it, no one wants to move away. This experience brings them back again and again.

How to Reach

Kangojodi can be approached from Solan, Chandigarh and Paonta Sahib. It is best to reach Nahan either from Chandigarh/Ambala or from Paonta Sahib. Either way the roads are in good shape and the travel is not so tiring. From Naraingarh the hilly terrain starts and as you start climbing the fresh air welcomes you and stays till the end. The village under which this fabulous spot stays is Gunjarput.

Kawalag, near Shimla

Village Kawalag, which is located on the Mehli – Junga Road is just 40 minutes drive from Shimla covering around 15 kms. Experience nature and splendor at its best as you enjoy a real farm like environment. Noise free and sitting amidst Pine trees the spot is serene and inviting.


The camp has tents in two rows with basic furniture and an almirah with attached bathrooms for convenience. Ideally suited for couples, arrangements can be made to accommodate additional persons if need be.


The tents are available in two sizes and tourists can choose the ones as per their liking. The amenities are same except the attached bathroom size and missing almirah.


Picnics & Excursions

The staff here has fully evolved about Shimla’s heritage and flora and fauna. Shimla, which extends to seven hills, has a wide variety of spots and we will happily take you around. Most of the spots are within driving distance we can do a sort of sightseeing trip.

White Water Rafting

The Sutlej River welcomes tourists to tame her and sits around 50 km away at Tattapani. We recommend you to take the benefit of in-house mountain bikes and ride down and enjoy the thrill. You kill two birds with one stone and enjoy rafting & riding bicycles in one go. It won’t take you more than 2 hours even if you ride leisurely.


The river Sutlej gives a different type of experience and qualifies for grade 2 and 3 rapids. The journey takes roughly an hour from Tattapani to Chabba covering an 18 km stretch. The return journey using a short cut consumes approximately the same time. Overall this expedition will be an abnormally satisfying one. The feedback obtained is awesome and many have promised to come back for reliving their thrill.


Mountain Biking

Riding a bike in mountains is a totally different experience when compared to cities. It also allows you to explore the flora & fauna closely and also exercise your limbs and liberate them in the cool environs. We guarantee that once you ride the bikes for some distance you will want to carry this experience forward and extend your stay for at least a day more.

How to Reach

Drive ahead of Shimla on the Mehli Junga Road and continue driving for about 40 minutes. Soon you will see the billboards with the name Redwood Camps and you will know how to arrive.


You can also arrive from Solan on NH22 and turning right towards Junga. Now only 36 km stretch you need to cross before arriving at our property.

  1. Our staff accompanies you on all activities and closely monitors all progresses. You can always depend on them and ask for help or guidance without fail.

    Mashobra Greens, near Shimla

    Standing tall at 7,000 feet the campsite of Mashobra Greens is so attractive you can’t stop thinking about its beauty. Unpolluted environs, extremely low noise, fresh feeling which lingers on and on, and the close proximity to other places of interest tourists frequent the location.

     

    Located at just 15 kms from Shimla which is a superb setting amongst the wooded hills, offering panoramic views of the Himalayan snow peaks. The pine forests, the lush greenery and the inviting charms are enough for adventure junkies to sing praises about Mashobra Greens.

    Note

    1.       Guided night tours through the jungle are a slight health problem. Trees emit carbon dioxide at night so participants may experience some discomfort.

    2.       Some plants may be allergic to some, while on the identifying Flora & Fauna tour, either wear gloves or touch lightly to unknown plants.

    3.       The river rafting performance is not under their control. The company is not responsible if this third party is not able to meet your expectations, though they try their best.

    4.       All activities are time dependent and need be finished before 6 pm in the evening. If any of your group member takes more time, either ask to quit or you may have to forego other activities. Same tip applies to family members.

    5.       Do not take your sweet time and then expect the organizer to accommodate your extra time beyond 6 pm. This is just not possible and the operators, in fact, try closing a few minutes before so to allow latecomers to complete their tasks.

    Sadhupull, near Shimla

    Located on the Kufri – Chail Road, Sadhupull stands tall at 2,250 meters.     How to Reach

    Move ahead of Shimla towards Chail-Kufri road and drive around 40 kms. The recommended route is to reach Kandaghat after Solan on NH22 and turning right towards Junga and drive for roughly 36 km which should take you around 40 minutes or so.

    Shelapani, 3 hr drive from Shimla

    If you enjoy secluded locations, Shelapani is the ideal destination which is just a 3 hour drive from Shimla. A few minutes before reaching this paradise, the apple fragrance lingers whereas the snow clad peaks, lush green hills, pine forests overwhelm you. When no bird chirps, and no wind flows, you get to hear the pin drop silence.

    Shelapani translates to cold water and is apt for the natural spring that flows nearby. If you want to experience the best of rural and village tourism in Himachal Pradesh, look nowhere else and simply drive here. Shelapani is the ultimate spot where you can connect with nature, some wildlife and stay in total solitude. Shelapani is an amazing experience away from the normally noisy cities.

    Adventure Possibilities

    Snow Skiing

    Snow skiing can be practiced at the Badrol Mountain in the nearby jungle. However the slopes are not too long and travelers should bear this in mind before arriving. Newcomers can definitely try their hand and enjoy.

    Camping, Trekking and Jungle Walks

    Shelapani is very attractive at 7,500 feet and many travelers love to camp here. Using it as the base camp, they trek to nearby peaks. People often do a temple tour covering the nearby villages. Some vendors do bring in their horses for forest trails and is highly recommended. Nature adds a cherry to the cake with its beautiful sun set.

    Beautiful Pabbar Valley landscape

    Standing tall at an elevation of 8,000 feet the Pabbar Valley is magnificent. Carved from the Himalayan stream it offers mesmerizing view of Shivalik Ranges on its front side.

    Trekking

    Experience the silent wooded forests where only the sound of brushing air is heart, the peaks of Badrol, Mandhol, Mandlot, Sari Hatkogi Giri Ganga etc. The flora & fauna is waiting to be explored and is unique to say the least.

    Hilly Wildlife

    The hills are home to the black bear, ghoral, monal, and a variety of pheasants. With the help of a local guide, you may be able to spot wild animals wandering nearby.

    Trout farms and fishing

    Between two spots Rohru and Chirgaon Road, you can watch the glorious Trout fishes in ponds and storage tanks. It is a different option which needs to be experienced at least once.

    Camping

    Chanchal Pass is ideal for camping and you can see many trekkers’ tents. It is one of the routes to snow clad mountains and is frequented by different private groups.

    As a traveler, you can either carry your own portable tents or enquire in the tiny village as some vendors have set up shops. However, they have the basics only but can provide you excellent guides for setting up tents and exploring the nearby places.

    Where to Stay

    1.       On approaching Shelapani, you will find a couple of small rest houses and home stays. The concept of home stays is catching fast as it provides real time experience of mingling with local people and having their traditional meals that they serve with warmth and generosity.

    2.       If you are looking for comforts of luxury hotels, then Dwarika Residency is the only option for you.

    How to Reach

    By Road

    Shelapani is located just 55 km off of National Highway No 22. Once you move on to the Shimla Narkanda road, there is a diversion at Theog with State highway 10. If driving your own vehicle, you have to cross: Shimla, Pagu, Theog, Kotkhai, Parshal, Kharapathar, and Sundli respectively.
