Sonamarg – Kashmir Lake Trek
This is the most popular trek which originates from Sonamarg is the Kashmir Lake Trek covering the lakes of Gangabal, Vishansar, Kishansar, and then runs close to the Harrnukh peak.
The trail route first crosses the Nichnai Pass (13,387 ft or 4,056 meters) entering the beautiful alpine valleys that eventually lead to Gangabal Lake. Vishansar, or Lord Vishnu's Lake, is just over 12,000 ft and slightly larger in size than the 12,500 ft Kishansar, or Lord Krishna's Lake. Protected by the three peaks of Mount Harmukh Gangabal Lake is the highlight of this trip which is 5 miles in circumference and the trout fish tourists can catch are the best anywhere in Kashmir.

How to prepare beginners for great lakes trek
For a satisfying
experience, tourists need to put some hard work as a preparation for the trek.
1. Acclimatize for a few days.
2. Climbing is an exhaustive task hence some regular jogging of 3-5 km will surely help.
3. Other than this, some squats and stretches of different reps would increase your stamina.
4. Try sleeping inside a tent so that you know whether you can easily withstand the night while on the trek.
