Best Time to Visit Srinagar

Generally from April to October is the best time to visit Srinagar. However, for winter and snowy beauties the other half is more appropriate.

Weather in Kashmir varies greatly due to its topography. Srinagar receives more rain in the month of March than in the monsoon season which prevails from July to September in northern India.

The summer season is from April to mid-July. The temperature ranges between 14°C to 30°C. Though, the days might be slightly on the hotter side but in the evening, the climate becomes quite pleasant.

The first two weeks celebrate the Tulip Festival at Asia’s largest Tulip Garden. The dazzling rainbow of colours from the 60 varieties is a feast to your eyes. Also this is the time when many flowers bloom painting the town in myriad hues.

The Mughal Gardens appear at their best now. Blooming flowers beautify every nook & corner and with the hill backdrop the views are breathtaking.

Open to non-members, the Royal Springs Golf Course, rated No 1 in India presents an excellent outing.

Paragliding is also an option starting from May to November, at Astanmarg, Srinagar.

The rainy season from July to August sees scanty showers. But even this downpour disrupts normal life as it creates chaos and wet mud plays spoilsport. Sometimes the clouds stoop very low giving it a romantic touch loved by couples.

The Golf Course, however, is still a favourite because enthusiasts keep pouring in to cash in the generosity extended to non-members.

When skies are clear, Paragliding is available at Astanmarg, Srinagar.

From October the weather changes drastically and all the mugginess disappears and cool winds prevail.

From March onwards Srinagar gets blossomed carpets in various hues. People enjoy the colors of autumn which usually arrives in the month of October. The cool breeze during the evening makes the weather a bit chilly. Travelers love to the visual delight of the fall season.

This magnificent city offers a cool and pleasurable winter. During this period, the minimum and maximum temperature range between 0°C and 15°C respectively. Winter begins in October and continues through till the month of March. When it snows the city comes to a standstill as the landscape is covered under the blanket of snow.
