About Toranmal

Snuggled within the Barwani Hills of the Satpura Range in the Khandesh Region adjoining Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, lays the trivialuncharted hill station of Toranmal. The tribal hill stationshares common borders with Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat and therefore it attracts increasing visitors from these two states than Maharashtra alone. The hill station enjoys an enjoyable nonchalant climate even during the hot season. Ideal time of visiting this hill station is post monsoons. It is during this season that plentiful periodic waterfalls highlight the attraction of sylvan hill station.


How to Reach

By Air
Nearest airport, Aurangabad is 285 kilometers away. Buses and Taxis are available for onward journey.

By Train
Nearest railhead is Nandurbar, 76 kilometers away. However, Dhule, which is 126 kilometers away is much convenient and offers many conveniences. From both stations, taxis are available.

By Road
Toranmal is on the roadways and easily accessible. The usual approach stations are Aurangabad, Dhule & Mumbai (510) kilometers away.

Best Time to Visit

Though it can be visited anytime, the months of October to February are the most pleasant. The summers bring up temperatures above 40 degrees, the heat and high humidity make travel unpleasant. Even the rainy season from July to September do not offer any respite.

EVENTS/FESTIVALS

Toranmal is a famous hill station known for its huge tribal belt, as seen from the neighboring settlements that house the tribals - the Bhils, the Pavaras, and the Nhahalas. All of them have their own distinct culture and life styles. Celebrations are in the form of dance rituals performed by the tribes, named as AdivasiPawara and Songadya dances and the Tipari tribal dance. These dances are complemented by drum beats and outmoded music.

SHOPPING AREA

There are very limited shopping zones around in Toranmal, and much of it is due to the fact tribal population is very high. Most of the markets around sell handicrafts, showcasing the distinct tribal culture. Clay crafts are also prominent and tourists can come across many ornaments and articles of utility made from clay.
