Camping in Uttarkashi

A picturesque location which is just 22 kms from Uttarkashi, lies on Highway no 108 and just before Sainj village. The specific camp spot called Maneri is dotted with clear water rivulets on one side and Garhwal Himalayas on the other side. The altitude of over 1,100 meters shows that the temperature keeps the tourists in good spirits as the range never fluctuates beyond 10-25 degrees. The rivulets keep the landscape interesting and the shrubs and flowers add a hint of colour.

This camp site is so well managed that it makes you feel at home. The best of basic amenities gives full value for your money and the tourist always want to come back for this finest experience. The Garhwal Himalayas and the rivulets and the modest altitude and the flora and fauna for this height is so varied that almost every fortnight the view changes.

Uttarkashi is the place which is known for its stunning natural beauty, and is also called as Devbhumi, which can be literally translated to ‘Land of the Gods’. Pilgrims from all around the country flock to this region too, due to its religious heritage. Now you can imagine how beautiful and well settled campsite you would be visiting.

Garhwal Himalayas also inherit rich varieties of Fur, Pine, Deodar and other various types of medicinal plants and shrubs. In fact, Uttarkashi is one of the most picturesque towns in the whole state.


This campsite boasts of weather proof luxury cottage tents. For a total rural effect the tourists are provided with thatched roofs and the cottage gets an awesome look no one wants to leave early. Attached wash rooms with running hot and cold water for maximum convenience is available.

Separate and dedicated cottage with thatched roof for meals and small get-togethers in adverse weather.

Adventure Activities

  1. Rock Climbing

  2. Daytime treks and hikes to Kushkalyan, Barsu Top, Dayara Bugual, Raithal.

  3. Whitewater rafting trips and canoeing can be organized after September.

  4. Angling is possible in River Assi Ganga, one of the tributaries of Bhagirathi.

  5. Pony ride.

  6. Night trek to Sainj village and across the river is available, which will take approx 2½ hours.

Picnics or excursions or in-house lectures

As the camp site nears some interesting facilities, short duration picnics or excursions can be arranged, provided enough tourists arrive and they are agreeable.

1. Visit to a nearby Mineral Water factory, at nominal extra cost.

2. Yoga Guru for infotainment is possible at extra charge.

Tariffs for 2N/3D

Rs 6,500 – 8,500 for per person is charged and Rafting Trips Rs 1,000 extra.

For 3N/4D

Rs 9,800 – 12,300 per person is charged and Rafting Trips Rs 1,000 extra.


  1. Tariff includes charges for all activities and meals.

  2. Guide charges for nearby trekking extra.

  3. Please be aware that all activities are weather & time dependent. If weather turns adverse in-between, no refunds are admissible. Similarly after 6:00 pm, no activity will be allowed to continue.

How to Reach

Rishikesh - Doiwala - Kedarpur - Sahaspur - Dhiraina - Sainj. This is the route but you should be alert after Dhiraina as you will need to turn right before Sainj Village. Total distance is 175 km.

Dehradun - Malsi - Guniyal Gaon - Mussoorie - Landour - Suwakholi - Narkuchi - Gair - Manj Kot - Idiyan - Sanau - Chhiam - Bhenti - Nakuri. Maneri is 22 kms from Uttarkashi.

Nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun 170 km away.

Nearest Railway Station is Rishikesh, 175 km away.


  1. Spend some time in darkness and watch the stars laden sky. One glance and you know what you missed in your city back home. You know the vastness and idea of your entity.

  2. Before sleeping at night, keep quiet inside your tent and try listening to the night world. Hills have a different world of their own which comes alive only at night.

  3. Hills are the best place to try low light photography. Dusk & dawns present ample opportunities no one should miss out.

  4. There are no shops of any kind hence it is recommended to carry your own stock of drinks or smoking material.

  5. Doctors are on panel and available when needed. However, you need to pay all incidental charges.

  6. Though no animals have been spotted yet but you should avoid roaming outside alone, especially at night.

  7. Try staying at least 2-3 days if possible. For full enjoyment and total relaxation and rejuvenation this is the apt period. Else all your energy will be wasted in arriving & departing only.

  8. Many a time local villagers drop in to meet the visitors. Their children do come along trying to join in and have fun. Often these result in fruitful talks and laughter sessions. It is recommended not to shoo them away for mutual benefit.

  9. Polythene bags are not allowed inside the campus. Please help us in keeping our environment and mountains clean.

Other Major Activities


  • Do make sure you get back to the campsite before dark.
  • Do go hiking accompanied by at least one person. Make your co-travellers informed.
  • Do bring with your insect repellents.
  • Do try to leave the least carbon footprints.


  • Don't try to feed or harass the wildlife.
  • Don't try to enter a private property.
  • Don't leave back any uneaten food in natural areas.
  • Don't try to sleep in the same clothing that you wore during the day.
