About Ziro

Ziro is an old town of Arunachal Pradesh inhabited by the Apa Tani tribe. It is famous for its Pine Hills and rice fields. The weather is pleasant throughout the year allowing tourism without any hindrance. The best time to visit this place is during the month of January or March when two major festivals of this place are celebrated, ‘Murung’ and ‘Myoko’ respectively.

Dree Festival
Dree festival is celebrated by Apatani people by sacrificing fowls, eggs and animal to Sun and Moon Gods. It is celebrated so that the Gods do not get angry and help the Apatanis in agricultural production. Apatanis have found brilliant rice cultivation without scientific aids for which they believe that the Sun and Moon Gods have helped them and hence the celebration and prayer. Every year it is celebrated in the month of July from 4th-7th July
