Kasauli

Located at an altitude of 1800 meters above the sea level, Kasauli is a cantonment town of Indian Army and one of the most picturesque hill stations of India. Despite the history that Kasauli shares in the freedom struggle of India; it is also a part of the great epic of Hindu religion, Ramayana. Legends link Kasauli’s existence to Lord Hanuman. It is believed that when Lord Hanuman was coming from Sanjeevani Hill to fetch herbs for Lord Lakshman who was badly hurt; he stopped at Kasauli and that is how this town came into existence. In the nation’s history, Kasauli came into records in 17th century when a Rajput family from Rewari took refuge in this town due to troubled political situations. In 19th century, Kasauli became a prominent part of Gurkha expansion, the uprising against British. Best time to visit Kasauli is from the month of April to June and from September to November.
